I started my own counselling journey by visiting a counsellor after suffering from panic attacks for as long as I could remember; it was one of the best, scariest and most fulfilling journeys I have been on. My interest in mental health grew leading to me being a qualified person-centred counsellor. My qualifications are listed below with the additional training I have undertaken. Additional training is very important to enable me to provide you with an ethical and safe service; I am always learning about new things.
You may have heard of different types of therapy and I have been trained as a person-centred therapist. At the heart of person-centred therapy is the relationship between a client and the counsellor. We believe that, with the right relationship, people can experience change through the counselling process. I am not here to tell you what to do or what decisions to make – my aim is to help you believe in yourself and see a little clearer to make the right decisions for you.
Your safety is my priority, so I am registered with The National Counselling Society (NCS). The register has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. My membership number is NCS21-01893. They provide an ethical framework that I work to within my day-to-day practice. I am happy to provide you with a copy of this if you would like. I am also fully insured to work as a counsellor and can provide you with a copy of my insurance certificate.
I have worked with many different clients in private practice and in voluntary work with Cruse, Mind and an organisation working with children who have been bereaved.
